Tennis is my favourite sport and photography is what
I do. Put the two things together and you get a photographer
who has organized his work around the world of tennis.
The first tennis tournament I shot was the 1989 Australian
Open and since 1994 I have been covering all the major
tennis events around the world.
I have covered about 150 tournaments so far, including
the last 40 Gran Slam events and several Davis Cup
Finals .I also was the official photographer for the
Australian Davis Cup Team at the 1999 Final in Nice
against France where the Aussies won the Cup.
My work has been published worlwide and my photos
appear regulary in Italy's largest sports newspaper
La Gazzetta dello Sport and in the tennis magazine
Matchpoint.
Before working on the tennis tour I had a photographic
studio in Sydney where I was shooting mainly fashion
catalogues and still life. The need to get more movement
in my photos pushed me to move into different directions
and photoreportage was the one that best suited my
photographic style. My knowledge of studio lighting
and my experience in fashion have helped me a lot
in building up a reputation in the sports industry,
and I get many requests to shoot features with athletes
and sports fashion catalogues.
In 2005 my work has been selected for two important
exhibitions: "WTA: The Hhistory of Women's Tennis"
at Proud Galleries in London and "Passing Shots,
Photographers' Perspectives on Tennis" at the
US Open Gallery, Flushing, New York.
