Born in Adelaide, South Australia and raised in Italy, I returned to Australia in 1981 where I opened my first photographic studio in Sydney. I was producing mainly fashion catalogues and in my spare time I was photographing models, actors & dancers. The need to get more movement in my photos pushed me to experiment in different photographic directions and photoreportage was the one that best suited my style.
My experience in studio lighting and my strong passion for photography have been the keys to a successful carreer in sports photography.
Even though I am best known for my tennis photography, my interest in other sports, and especially soccer, sailing and winter sports, has turned me into an all-rounder in sports photography on and off the court.
I regularly shoot features with athletes and editorial pictures for advertising and fashion catalogues.
I started my career as a tennis photographer at the 1989 Australian Open.
Since then I covered 84 Grand Slam tournaments, 44 between Davis and Fed Cup ties ,many of which for different federations ( Tennis Australia, Itf and USTA) and about 90 between Atp and Wta tournaments
I also covered 2 Summer Olympics for the ITF (Sydney 2000 and London 2012).
In 2005 my tennis work has been selected for two exhibitions: “WTA: The History of Women’s Tennis” at Proud Galleries in London and “Passing Shots, Photographers’ Perspectives on Tennis” at the US Open Gallery, Flushing, New York.
In 2008 I designed my first photographic book on tennis, “TENNIS MATCH”,published in Italy by HOEPLI and EDISPORT EDITORIALE.
In 2010 ,with the same publishers and with the cooperation of Enzo Anderloni, well known tennis writer and editor in chief of the world’s oldest tennis magazine IL TENNIS ITALIANO, I produced two more photographic books, “ROGER FEDERER, il N.1 di sempre” and “LE RAGAZZE DEL TENNIS”. Then in 2011 my fourth book “IL RE DELLA TERRA” about the career of RAFA NADAL.
